Stele Avatara of Vishnu

Gujarât, India - Marna - Height 81 cm - 15th century

Vishnu is usually represented surrounded by a nembo in which its demonstrations are carved on the earth or avatara.

In this sculpture they are represented on the inferior register the fish, Matsya;

to climb Bhuvaraha, the wild boar and Vamana, the dwarf, all flanked by splendid handmaids seminude.

Above of these, it Coppers it has on his right a mythological animal.

On the last register, Buddha, the ninth demonstration of Vishnu and flanked on the right by a makara, the mythical aquatic animal.
